The usual round-up of interesting posts from across the blogosphere- all focusing on one of the only sectors to be showing any kind of growth right now - and that's MOBILE.
Igor from the mobify.me startup offers up a great post which highlights the potential of "mid-tier" online sites moving onto mobile. Whilst a lot of growth so far has come from the big brands like facebook, espn and so on Mobify.me are betting that the mid-tier guys are also going to do pretty well, especially now that the cost of developing mobile services is falling (e.g. through services like mobify.me).
The one like Improbulus has a good review of one of the top android apps "0870" which was written by Simon Maddox the prolific mobile developer. The android app allows you to make massive savings in the UK on calling non-geographic numbers (e.g. 0870, 0845, 0800) which the mobile operators wont include in your free minutes and routinely add on additional charges for. Apparently the app has already saved UK users £20k in charges...
Steve over at AllaboutSymbian has a post analysing why there is no reason that the Apple iphone shouldn't allow apps to run in the background given that other platforms have supported this for absolutely ages - according to Steve it all comes down to games ... Steve really gets under the skin of this issue and his post is well worth a read
Technokitten aka Helen from Beep Marketing and Mobile Monday London asks "Is SMS marketing doomed"? - you can join the discussion in the comments. In my opinion the success of services like Vodacom adme in South Africa suggest that there's plenty of opportunity left in SMS as a marketing channel with the right opt-ins and value proposition to advertisers and consumers.
C. Enrique Ortiz questions the validity of a recent patent awarded to Neomedia and he's clearly hit a nerve because the post has already driven a boat load of comments
Andrew Grill has a nice little case study of a mobile campaign against knife crime in the UK - i've seen this ad running on admob over a few sites - Andrew rates the campaign overall but points out a big error - the app download didn't work on his phone...
Catalyst Code brings a post entitled "It takes two to mobile (commerce)" looking at Nokia's recent acquisition of a slice of the mobile payments provider Obopay. Mobile payments are clearly a massive area for the industry going forward but this well-informed post highlights some fo the barriers to Nokia making a success of this bit of M&A.
Martin Sauter offers up the idea of putting ICE (In case of Emergency) information on SIM cards - makes a lot of sense given that everyone carries a mobile with them at all times these days - good to see people thinking laterally about mobile

Antoine Wright cross posts from the Nokia forum a piece about the social graph and the presence page for Nokia Mobile Web Server which seems to have loads of potential - for example as a business card - nice post Antoine!
Dennis from Wapreview reviews the new Bolt Browser beta in his typical comprehensive style and gives it the thumbs up overall - the mobile browser space is really getting crowded these days but according to Dennis Bolt is looking like a pretty strong competitor...
