Ok here's an example of really bad mobile execution from one of the big web players. If you want to login to AIM instant messenger over mobile through the AOL mobile site they refuse to push you to a simple mobile web interface to do this. You have to "select your carrier" and then follow specific and weird instructions like "it should be installed on your phone" etc. Firstly, they only support US carriers (and not all the US carriers), second, why not just link to a mobile website for AIM?
What a joke. Luckily, Heysan, who we covered here recently have created an interface to the service to fill in the gap.
We've added this to the mjelly directory to help people find it - big up Heysan! for solving the problem and AOL - what are you doing!?!?
AIM login on mjelly (PC)
AIM login on mjelly (mobile)
